The Outer Banks of North Carolina is a chain of barrier islands surrounded by 900 square miles of water. Boundless photography subjects are found along this narrow strip of sand jutting out into the Atlantic Ocean.
Co-Leaders, Dan Water and Lori A. Cash, have over 40 years combined living and photographing experience on the Outer Banks. With this knowledge we will help you maximize your potential for coming home with great images.
Join us for a wonderful and rewarding experience photographing four lighthouses (Currituck Beach Lighthouse, Bodie Island Lighthouse, Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse and Cape Hatteras Lighthouse) and the seascapes surrounding them. The workshop will begin with an introductory slideshow, particpant image critiques and orientation on Friday evening.
Saturday morning we will begin photographing at Cape Hatteras Lighthouse and the surrounding seashore at sunrise. Then we will move on to the quaint little town of Manteo on Roanoke Island where we will photograph Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse and have a late lunch. Saturday evening will find us at Heritage Park in Corolla where we can photograph the Currituck Beach Lighthouse and the Whalehad Club at sunset and dusk. Sunday morning it’s off to Bodie Island Lighthouse for another sunrise shoot which will end the weekend.
The Friday evening orientation will be held at the Comfort Inn North Oceanfront in Kill Devil Hills and they are offering a discount on room prices.
Recommended equipment: Camera that can be manually adjusted, camera manual, wide angle to short telephoto lenses, lens hoods, tripod, any filters you may have (polarizer, density filters), laptop (if you have one), battery charger, extra batteries and extra memory cards or film.
Limit to 12 participants. A $100 deposit is due at time of registration and remaining balance due 30 days prior to the workshop date. Fees can be paid by check, money order or by credit card.
