Sunrise and Sunset Photo Workshops!
Dan Waters and Dan Beauvais of Outer Banks Photo Workshops are excited to announce weekly sunrise and sunset photo workshop offerings! Each week from now through September, there will be a Wednesday morning Sunrise Workshop at Manteo Waterfront, and a Thursday evening Sunset Workshop on Jockey’s Ridge. The workshops are $48 each.
These locations each offer tremendous photo possibilities. They are offered at the time of day that presents the best quality of light, a key differentiator between ho-hum and exciting images!

Wild Horse and Seascape Photo Excursion Report
I would like to share some of my students photos from the Wild Horse and Seascape Photo Excursion Workshop. It was the perfect afternoon to see the horses on the beach. They come to the beach to escape the flies when there is a steady breeze from the west. We saw a lot of horses and had a wonderful time. I would like to thank Ken, Michelle and Ashley Deans for allowing me to to share and help guide them in such a wonderful experience. Also thank you for allowing me to use your photos.

I would like to announce new lower prices for my private photo instruction. I’ve lowered the price $50 for each four hour session.
I enjoy teaching and sharing what I know about photography with others and hope these lower prices are an incentive to enable me to do what I love more often.
I have also added private Photoshop instruction. I will come to your house and teach you on your computer with your Photoshop program. Same prices as below.

Photographing Flowers through Textured Glass
Here is a fun tip for photographing spring flowers. Try photographing a spring bouquet through a sheet of textured glass. The further the glass is from the flowers the less defined they will be. There is a variety of textures available depending on the look you would like to achieve.
How I processed this image, was to take two photographs, one with the glass and one without, while the camera was on a tripod. Then I combined the two photographs to control the amount of texture.

Images from Lighthouse and Seascapes Photo Workshop
These are a few photos taken by Tanya Gills on our Lighthouse and Seascape Photo Workshop. This workshop started out with an introductory slide show and critique Friday evening. Saturday morning we made it to Cape Hatteras Lighthouse before sunrise. Next we went to Bodie Island Lighthouse where we photographed the unusual sight of Bodie Island shrouded with scaffolding, something never seen before. After our break, it was to Jockeys Ridge State Park for some late afternoon sand dune photos. Then we stopped by the Outer Banks Pier on are way to photograph sunset at the Manteo waterfront. Sunday morning it was up to Corolla to photograph the Currituck Beach Lighthouse and the beach as the sun came up. We then had a small critique of the photos that were taken, over coffee and said our goodbyes. What a great weekend!

Here are three images taken by one of our students, Michele Deans, while on our Photography Basics for Beginners Workshop. It was a beautiful morning and afternoon. We had fun working with our students and wanted to share some of their images taken that day.
Lighthouses and Seascapes Photo Workshop
Just a reminder that there is still space available for our Lighthouses and Seascapes weekend workshop for March 19-21, 2010.
The cost of this workshop is $350 with a Friday evening orientation, all day Saturday in the field photographing and Sunday in the field photographing until noon.
